Our school is a two story yellow-bricked building set far back off the highway in a campus-like setting that provides both security and safety for our students. The landscaping surrounding the building was professionally upgraded in the summer of 2005. Ornamental walkways provide a safe means for students to access the school grounds. A 9-11 Remembrance Garden was created to allow for private reflection. St. Veronica School has a state of the art security system to enhance our campus security. This system includes ten cameras strategically placed inside and outside the school which record activities on a 24 hour basis. A monitor located in the main office allows for constant surveillance since all means of entering the building are always locked. Any person wishing to access the school must be admitted by the office staff as a registered guest. Technology We enjoy a state of the art computer lab, which includes 36 student stations and one teacher station all connected to one network. This network extends to a computer in each classroom from first through eighth grades. Also in each classroom is a wall mounted 27 inch color television set and VCR combination which can be used in conjunction with the computer for whole class instruction. Science Lab Our two science labs are both wired for Internet access and provide students in fifth through eighth grades the opportunity to incorporate scientific reasoning, critical thinking skills, and advanced technology to develop a more integrated learning experience. Resource Room A fully-equipped resource room enables students in need of remedial math and reading skills an environment which provides a small group setting with more individualized instruction. Rainbow Patch Two full sized classrooms are utilized by the Rainbow Patch Pre-School Program and are equipped with their own kitchen and restroom facilities. Kitchen Our cafeteria kitchen is immaculately kept and equipped with modern appliances. Hot and cold lunches are prepared on site and offered on a daily basis. The cafeteria can be sub-divided to allow for other activities to take place simultaneously. Gymnasium/Auditorium St. Veronica School enjoys a collegiate-sized gymnasium which is used for physical education classes, sporting events, assemblies, celebrations and theatrical productions. Our stage area is complete with theatrical lighting and a state of the art sound system. Located within the gymnasium is a full-sized kitchen facility used for refreshments during many activities. Library St. Veronica School Library holds well over 7,000 books and periodicals. Library skills classes are taught to students in kindergarten through eighth grades on a weekly basis. Students are able to check out age-appropriate materials as well as make use of a variety of research tools including the use of the Internet. Church Our school is fortunate to be attached to Saint Veronica Church. Students have access to the church through the school building. Handicapped Accessible In keeping with the mandate of state law, our second floor is handicapped accessible. A wheelchair lift is located in the church which allows entry to the school's second floor and another lift is located within the school which allows for access beyond the stairs. Grounds Pre-school and kindergarten students, as well as Extended Care, have access to an enclosed, outside play area with slides, riding toys and ball toss games. A larger, outside fenced in Mall area is used for grades one through eight for physical education classes, team practices and other school and parish activities. |
